As we enter the last full month of summer and start thinking about football and fall weather there’s another thing that’s on some folks’ minds and that is new cars. Specifically brand new or redesigned models. Every year there are dozens of “all new” models to choose from and 2016 is no different. Forbes Autos reports that there are at least 40 new and refreshed vehicles about to hit the dealers’ lots for the 2016 model year.

Here are 8 of the most anticipated new 2016 vehicles:

2016 Acura NSX – One of the big stars of this year’s auto shows was the all-new 2016 Acura NSX sports car. With pricing starting in the mid $100K range this is expected to compete with other supercars and is offered as a gas/electric hybrid. A 3.5-liter V6 engine is augmented by a three-motor electric Sport Hybrid drive system with two in front and one in the rear as well as “launch control”, and a nine-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission.

2016 Buick Cascada – Buick is hoping to continue updating its image with their first convertible in over 25 years. With 200 horsepower from a direct injected four-cylinder engine the Cascada is intended to be fun to drive and the power ragtop can operate at speeds up to 31 mph so you’re just 17 seconds away from open sky driving almost anytime.

2016 Cadillac CT6 – Cadillac is finally ready to launch the long awaited full-size, rear-wheel-drive flagship sedan and the CT6 was designed to compete with European luxury. Articulating heated/cooled and massaging rear seats along with a 34-speaker Bose audio system are just some of the features you will find on this beauty as well as an optional 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6, estimated to generate up to 400 horsepower.

Chevrolet Volt - For 2016 the Volt gets an updated exterior and a longer estimated operating range on a charge. Now the Volt will be able to travel up to 50 miles on battery power alone before the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine kicks in to power the electric motor. Along with better exterior aesthetics the interior has also been improved in the new model.

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata – This is only the 3rd generation Miata in over two decades and the new look is decidedly more aggressive. The interior has also been improved with better technology. While a 2 liter engine with 155 horsepower may not seem like a lot the new MX-5 is 150 pounds lighter and has great handling capabilities.

2016 Scion iA & iM – Scion is launching two new models this year aimed at younger drivers. The iA shares components with the Mazda2 and has a starting price near $16,000. An estimated 42 mpg highway is also nice from this subcompact 4-door sedan.  The iM offers a larger 1.8 liter four cylinder and a manual or automatic transmission in a versatile and roomy hatchback. The iM is expected to price at around $20K.

2016 Mercedes-Benz Maybach – For 2016 Mercedes is bringing back ultra-luxury with the Maybach S600 starting at about $190,000, which gets you a car that’s over eight inches longer than a regular S-Class and comes equipped with a 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V12 engine putting out 523-hp. The interior is very roomy and richly appointed with everything you’d expect from the top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz.
