Th 2013 Cadilac ATS has been getting rave reviews ever since it was introduced in 2011 at the North American International Auto Show. The car has won:

  • Motor Press Guild Vehicle of the Year
  • Popular Mechanics magazine Luxury Car of the Year
  • 2012 Esquire Car of the Year
  • 2013 North American Car of the Year
  • 2013 Urban Car of the Year by Decisive magazine

This compact luxury car is also loaded with technology features. In 2012 Cadillac launched the “Cadillac User Experience” or CUE. The ATS features an 8-inch touchscreen with touch-sensitive buttons, similar to many smartphones. Haptic feedback provides the ability to use the system by feel without taking your eyes off the road.

Taking yet another “cue” from smartphones the homescreen offers apps in a grid linking to radio, navigation, weather, and several other functions including service indicators. Many of these apps will also sync with iPhone and Android.

Edmunds TechHive has a review of the All-Touch application and stated that the system could use a few actual knobs and controls to make it easier to use while driving. They also point out that there are physical controls on the steering wheel that make some features easier to access and control.

Some of CUE’s features are also displays on a heads-up display, which is controlled next to the steering wheel. Basic stats are displayed on the windshield and the instrument cluster has a custom screen for additional information. The cluster screen offers views of the speed, tire pressure, trip stats, and radio controls.

The Cadillac ATS is also offered with 3 different engines and 4 different trims. The Cadillac ATS competes with other compact luxury cars from BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Lexus. Priced about $3,000 below the BMW 3-series, the Cadillac ATS has been very well received in the car community.
